On the second day of the year, around noon time a heavy fog fell in the city.
On the river, you could hardly see the opposite side.
The people walking around ..looked as if they had come from another era.
A gentleman in a vintage navy outfit was walking smoking his pipe in the narrow streets of De Wallen, the port workers were unloading ships that had come from distant lands, and a woman was looking out of her window anxiously at the Waterlooplein, waiting for someone.
(Maybe he..she will not come. )
The old Zuiderkerk watch announces the time. It's 13:00!
